Eligibility

To participate in the School of Arts and Sciences Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, scholars must meet the following eligibility requirements.Please carefully read through all the criteria carefully: 

 

  1. Must demonstrate an educationally and economically disadvantaged background

  2. Must be a New Jersey resident 12 consecutive months prior to receiving the award

  3. Must apply and be accepted to a participating New Jersey college or university

  4. Must meet the academic criteria as set by the institution of choice

  5. Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application.

  6. Family‚Äôs verifiable** gross income and assets must fall within EOF Income Eligibility Scale as established by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education/EOF Board of Directors:

**In order for scholars to qualify for New Jersey State aid, upon request, applicants must provide proof of verifiable income, such as U.S. Tax return transcripts, IRS wage statements, or proof of income through a federal or state agency, i.e. TANF, SSI, SNAP, etc.

    2. Undocumented NJ DREAMERS complete: The New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application
  2. Complete your New Jersey Financial Aid System "TO DO List" for State Grants and Scholarships.
    1. First Year Students
    2. Transfer Students
    3. Current Rutgers-New Brunswick 2nd & 3rd year Students
  3. The EOF grant will be added to your award letter once you have submitted all documents requested to by the Office of Financial aid and they can verifies your are income & assets meet state requirements.
